Eight of Germany’s largest airports are being equipped with the latest anti-drone systems in a record-short time. The airports in question are Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Leipzig and Cologne. This was reported by the German Airports Association (BDL), UNN reports, citing DW.

According to BDL Chairman Joachim Lang, such a system has already been put into operation at Germany’s largest airport in Frankfurt am Main. He stressed that, following the drone incidents, the authorities in Berlin adopted the relevant decisions and launched the procurement procedure within a year, which happened “comparatively swiftly.” “Compared with other European countries, we are at a good level,” Lang said.
The head of BDL highlighted the latest drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport, which, he said, clearly demonstrates how urgently such measures are needed. Lang expressed confidence that by the end of the year, most of the 8 airports would be able to “take advantage of the new capabilities.”
