Four children from the Okhmatdyt NICU and their parents were evacuated to Austria and Switzerland. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Health.
"Currently, the Ministry of Health has provided evacuation for 4 young patients and their parents to Austria and Switzerland. All the children have serious illnesses and will now continue their fight for life in clinics in these countries," the statement said.
Among the evacuees is reportedly 12-year-old Vladislav with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In May of this year, he heard his terrible diagnosis for the first time. Thanks to the doctors at Okhmatdyt, the disease was put into remission.
"However, on June 30, the disease returned. On the day of the terrorist attack, Vladyslav was supposed to start the second course of chemotherapy, but a Russian missile disrupted these plans. Fortunately, the boy and his mother were in a safe place," the Ministry of Health informs.
It is noted that he will now continue his treatment in an Austrian clinic in Graz.
"These are the first evacuations of affected children from Okhmatdyt that we have organized. Others are planned. So far, we have received 14 requests from parents of children who were at the epicenter of the terrorist attack. At the same time, we have received positive signals from our partners from Germany, Switzerland and Austria, who are ready to take these children to their countries for treatment," said Health Minister Viktor Lyashko.
The Ministry of Health reminded that parents can submit a request for evacuation at medevac@moz.gov.ua or fill out a questionnaire here: https://bit.ly/3xPfxww.
The coordinators of the #Medevac program will help with the collection of necessary documents and provide consultations.
