Five people died as a result of a shooting in the northern German city of Stade, and a male suspect was arrested, police said on Monday.
The motive is currently unclear, German law enforcement added.
As DW reports, the Stade police in a statement published on WhatsApp said that a "large-scale operation" was underway on Dankersstrasse, urging citizens to stay away from the area and follow the instructions of emergency services at the scene.
As Euronews reports, investigators immediately did not provide any information about the background of the attack. A large number of emergency services are currently working at the scene.
The city of Stade has a population of about 50,000 and is located west of Hamburg.
