Fines and deprivation of license: MPs propose to increase fines for drivers for not giving way to special vehicles

A group of MPs has registered a draft law that would increase fines for drivers for failing to give way to special vehicles driving with flashing lights.

This is reported by UNN with reference to draft law No. 11111.

Details

According to the draft law, it is proposed to increase fines for drivers for failing to give way to special vehicles (emergency services, ambulances, fire brigades, police) moving with special light or sound signaling devices.

The fine is proposed to be set at UAH 1700 to UAH 2550 and deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of six months to one year. Currently, the fine is UAH 680. The same penalty is proposed to be imposed on drivers who do not give preference to route vehicles, in particular, those used to transport groups of children.

In addition, the MPs propose to fine drivers who fail to give way to special vehicles, which caused or could have caused a threat to human life and/or health. Such a violation will be punishable by a fine of UAH 3,400 to UAH 5,100 and deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of five to ten years.
