EU countries have agreed to tighten migration policy and establish return centers outside the bloc. Individuals whose asylum applications have been rejected will be sent there.

European Union countries reached an agreement on jointly strengthening migration policy during a meeting in Brussels. This was reported by Yle, according to UNN.

The adopted changes pave the way for the creation of return centers outside the EU. Individuals who have been denied asylum in one of the bloc's member states may be sent to such facilities.

The new system is part of the EU's efforts to increase the efficiency of migrant return procedures and combat illegal migration, which remains one of the key issues for many European countries.

Cyprus Deputy Minister of Immigration Nicholas Ioannides called the reached agreement a significant milestone for the European Union.

According to him, the agreed reforms should strengthen confidence in the EU's migration policy and promote a more coordinated approach by member states to asylum and migrant return issues.
