In Kyiv, law enforcement officers notified a 27-year-old BMW driver of suspicion, who is suspected of committing a fatal traffic accident in the Darnytskyi district of the capital while under the influence of alcohol. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, as conveyed by UNN.

According to the investigation, the accident occurred on July 18 at approximately 3:30 PM on the Boryspil Highway. The BMW driver was traveling from Kyiv towards the village of Shchaslyve. While overtaking another car on the right, he drove onto the shoulder, marked by a solid road line, where two cyclists were riding — a 44-year-old man and his 17-year-old son.
As a result of the collision, the minor cyclist died at the scene from his injuries. His father was hospitalized with injuries. After the collision, the BMW also crashed into a KIA Rio training car.
The Kyiv police noted that law enforcement officers determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A test using the "Drager" device showed 0.32 ppm of alcohol in his system.
After the accident, the man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in a person's death.
The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of five to ten years.
