It is noted that the minister of transport of Great Britain Louise Hague resigned from her post 12 hours after it turned out that she reported the theft of a work phone in order to allegedly get a new one from her employer. This is reported by  The Guardian, writes UNN.

Back in 2013, 24-year-old at that time Louise Hay worked for the insurance company Aviva and wrote a statement to the police that she was robbed on the street while walking. Among the missing items, Hague noted an official phone. After that, the company gave her a new device, but later Hague found the old phone at home. Sky News, citing its sources, claims that Hague reported the theft of her phone in order to get a newer model from her employer.

In 2014, the police conducted an investigation and accused the ex-minister of attempted fraud. In court, Hague pleaded guilty, so the court sentenced her to a suspended sentence of several months.

In an open letter of resignation sent to British Prime Minister Cyrus Starmer, Hague admitted that her continued tenure as head of the Ministry of Transport would damage the image of the government. "I understand that, whatever the facts, this issue will inevitably distract the government from its work and implementation of its tasks",

- the publication notes.

Hague became the first minister to resign from the starter administration, which was formed in July following the results of parliamentary elections.
