British intelligence explains why russians took a break from massive shelling of Ukraine in winter

After the last winter's massive air strike on Ukraine, russia needed more than a month to restore its potential, according to an intelligence report released by the British Ministry of Defense, UNN reports .

Details

It is noted that on Thursday, March 21, russia carried out the first large-scale strike on Ukraine in more than a month, using long-range aircraft. The agency noted that 44 days have passed since the previous air strike on Kyiv.

In particular, the attack involved at least 10 Tu-95 aircraft from Olenegorsk and Engels air bases, as well as MiG-31 fighters. At least 20 missiles were fired, including russia's latest X-101/X-102 cruise missile and Kinzhal ballistic missile, targeting targets mainly in Kyiv.

The ministry admits that the long break in long-range strikes was due to management and planning problems.

Sanctions have likely limited russia's ability to access key components for both aircraft and missiles

- British analysts explained.

In addition, the successful operation of Ukraine's air defense system has also likely complicated the planning of russian missions.

Addendum

At the same time, British intelligence believes that russia will almost certainly continue to strike critical targets as long as aircraft, crews, and weapons stockpiles allow, in an effort to maintain pressure on the Ukrainian government and population.

This is a manifestation of a prolonged campaign in which tactical aviation, such as fighters and helicopters, continues to have a limited impact on the overall conflict

- the British Ministry of Defense explains.

Recall

On the night of March 21 , air defense forces destroyed 31 missiles - two ballistic and 29 cruise missiles - during a night attack .

After that, the next day, on the night of March 22 , the Air Defense Forces destroyed 92 air targetslaunched by the russian army into Ukraine - 55 enemy "shaheeds" and 37 missiles.
