Bob Dylan has recorded a cover version of "Don't Fence Me In" for the upcoming biopic about Ronald Reagan. UNN writes about this with reference to NME.

Details

The upcoming movie Reagan has been in the works for several years, starting with its announcement in 2020. The film will be released in late August and will star Dennis Quaid in the title role of Ronald Reagan.

For the movie, Dylan recorded a cover version of Cole Port's 1934 song "Don't Fence Me In". The song was later popularized in the 1940s by Gene Autry, to whom Dennis Quaid is a second cousin.

Quaid talks about Bob Dylan's commitment to the movie

We gave him the freedom to perform any song he wanted, whether it was an original or a cover, and he chose "Don't Fence Me In". It was especially nice because it was the song that made Gene famous

- Quaid said.

Bob Dylan is not the only music legend to have contributed to the Reagan campaign: Gene Simmons of KISS recorded a cover version of "Stormy Weather", country icon Clint Black covered John Denver's "Country Road". It is also reported that Tanya Tucker recorded a song for the movie, although details have not yet been disclosed.

Reagan will also star Creed frontman Scott Stapp, who was cast as Frank Sinatra in 2020. The film was originally scheduled to be released in 2021, but was postponed.
