President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Belarus, under obvious Russian influence, is completing the construction of military infrastructure along the Ukrainian border. As the president noted, Ukrainian intelligence reported on the implementation of measures that may indicate preparation for a potential expansion of aggression against Ukraine.
"Separately, Oleh Luhovskyi reported on the implementation, under obvious Russian influence in Belarus, of measures to prepare for a potential expansion of aggression against Ukraine. Along our state border in Belarus, the construction of road infrastructure and bases for storing ammunition and fuel and lubricants is being completed, which have no other purpose than military. These are the border directions of Kobryn – Kovel, Ivanove – Manevychi, Luninets – Sarny, Rechitsa – Korosten, and Gomel – Chernihiv. We know that in Russian documents this is described precisely in the context of the tasks of the so-called 'SVO'," Zelenskyy reported.
The head of state emphasized that the Ukrainian side has already responded to such actions by Belarus and expects steps aimed at de-escalation.
"Belarus has received from Ukraine the necessary signals regarding such activities, as well as regarding all other formats of their collaboration with Russia in the interests of prolonging and scaling up the war. Belarus knows what steps are needed from its side for peace. The development of border infrastructure of aggression by Belarus must be stopped. Steps aimed at de-escalation and peace must be taken by the Belarusian side," the President of Ukraine emphasized.
