Amid rising fuel prices, russia will ban gasoline exports again on August 1

russia is preparing to re-ban the export of gasoline on August 1. This is reported by the russian media with reference to the federal antimonopoly service, UNN reports.

Details

russia's antimonopoly service has called for a return to the ban on gasoline exports starting August 1. They explain that the export permit was temporary and will last until the end of July.

The service believes that restricting fuel exports will help saturate the domestic market, allegedly during a period of increased demand associated with field work and scheduled maintenance of refineries.

The media also report that the price of gasoline on the stock exchange is currently on the rise, with an almost continuous rise in prices since the beginning of June.

According to Reuters estimates, since the beginning of June, wholesale gasoline of the Ai-92 brand has risen by about 20% and Ai-95 by 30%. The rise in the price of wholesale batches exceeded the actual increase in retail prices for these gasoline brands in russia by a factor of several.

Recall

The first restriction on the export of petroleum products was introduced in the fall of 2023, when the authorities and oil producers failed to resolve the fuel crisis.

The second ban on gasoline exports was introduced on March 1, 2024, when gasoline prices were rising sharply, and it was in effect until May 20, when the government called the situation stable.

Add

After a series of strikes by Ukrainian drones on russian oil refineries in early 2024, gasoline production in russia collapsed. In just three weeks in March, russian refineries reduced their output of motor gasoline by 10%, and gasoline prices soared to record highs.
