Details
The court issued a verdict against a 21-year-old student of a Mykolaiv university, finding him guilty of disseminating information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine for mercenary reasons (part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The court found that in the spring of 2023, the accused, acting as a representative of the aggressor country, collected and sent information about the addresses and locations of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was about educational and children's medical institutions and industrial facilities. For this, he received a monetary reward of about 2 thousand hryvnias. The money was transferred to his bank account from the temporarily occupied territory.
During the trial, the defendant said that he received on his account in a russian-made online game, but did not consider it a reward for the transfer of information. He also pleaded not guilty to the charge of having mercenary motives. However, this was refuted by his emails, where he and his interlocutor discuss the mechanisms of transferring and receiving remuneration.
After examining the evidence, the court concluded that the defendant's guilt was fully proven.
Taking into account the identity of the suspect, his motives, the nature and gravity of the crime, the court decided to sentence him to 10 years in prison for committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine
In addition, the court ruled to confiscate the office equipment and communications equipment belonging to the accused to the state.
