It is noted that the tragedy occurred in the Bulambuli district, about 300 km east of the capital Kampala. According to the Ugandan Red Cross, the landslide completely buried at least 40 households, and several dozen more homes were partially destroyed.
We have 15 dead and we are afraid that there are still many bodies underground,
The landslide destroyed all bridges in the area and flooded roads, making rescue operations difficult. Police said 113 people are missing, and impassable roads do not allow evacuation and rescue operations.
Since October, Uganda has been suffering from heavy rains, which caused large-scale flooding and landslides in some parts of the country. On Tuesday, rain caused the Nile River to overflow, which flooded the main highway connecting Kampala with the north-west of the country.
