"343 fires in the ecosystems of Ukraine have occurred over the past day. This is 280.65 hectares of scorched land," the SES reported on social media.
According to the State Emergency Service, in the Odesa region, while fighting a fire of dry vegetation and shrubs, rescuers saved a roe deer, exhausted from the heat, defenseless and frightened.
"Rescuers gave it cool water. The animal will be transferred to the local forestry, where it will be taken care of until it recovers completely," the SES said.
Meanwhile, for more than three days in a row, Kyiv region emergency responders have been extinguishing fires of forest litter and dry grass.
"The scorched earth is hot. The temperature in the shade is +35, but the sun is shining everywhere. The fire is spreading rapidly through the dead wood. Meter by meter, the guys are pouring water on the fire, but even in places where the fire has just been extinguished, the roots of fallen trees are catching fire again," the SES noted.
