Ukraine needs at least 25 Patriot systems to protect cities from enemy attacks. This was announced by the spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ilya Yevlash during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine, UNN reports .

The Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine has already announced 25 Patriot air defense systems that could currently protect our cities from enemy attacks. Of course, we also need many other means that could cover  the airspace and directly on the contact line, where our infantrymen are holding the line

- Yevlash noted.

In particular, he emphasized the need for portable anti-aircraft missile systems, which are used directly by mobile fire groups.

"Of course, this is not an exhaustive list. We also need man-portable air defense systems that can be effectively used by mobile fire groups. We have already seen how guided and cruise missiles can be shot down with the skillful use of man-portable air defense systems by our servicemen of the Ukrainian Defense Forces," he added.

Addendum

During the massive Russian attack on the night of April 11, 57 air targets - 18 missiles and 39 Shahed attack drones - out of 82 launched by Russian troops were destroyed in the skies over Ukraine.

 Recall

Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise Oleksandr Ruvin earlier spoke about the features of the X-59 missiles, two of which were shot down in the skies over Ukraine today during a night strike.

"The X-59 Ovod missiles are Soviet subsonic missiles developed in the 1970s. Currently, Russia is trying to modernize the old X-59s to newer versions: Kh-59M2, Kh-59MK, Kh-59MK2 and Kh-59MK2*. They differ in their main technical characteristics, launch sector, warhead weight, range, speed and altitude.

The modified version of the X-59 MK has a total weight of about 930 kg, a flight speed of 900-1000 km/h, a cruise altitude of 10-15 m (4-7 m at the end section), a launch range of up to 285 km and a warhead weighing about 320 kg," Ruvin said.
