Two tankers sink off the coast of Crimea: one runs aground, the other drifts

In the Kerch Strait, two Russian tankers had an accident - one ran aground and the other drifted. The incident killed one crew member, evacuated 12 sailors, and caused an oil spill.

One of the tankers sinking in the Kerch Strait ran aground, and the other drifted, UNN reports with reference to the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

There are 29 people on the tankers, Rosmorrichflot reports. The accident caused a spill of oil products.

The IC of the Russian Federation for Crimea and Sevastopol has already opened two criminal cases over the accident of two tankers in the Kerch Strait.

So far, it is known that one crew member of the Volgoneft-212 tanker was killed.

According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, another 12 sailors were evacuated.

The operational services began rescuing the sailors from the second tanker.
