Turkey has resumed the passage of vessels to the Black Sea after several days of delays. Earlier, the authorities had not issued transit permits for voyages to Russian and Ukrainian ports without explanation.

Turkey has resumed allowing vessels to pass through its straits into the Black Sea. Bloomberg reports this, UNN informs.

Details

It is noted that earlier, some vessels waited for several days for permission without any explanation from the Turkish authorities amid heightened security risks in the region.

In recent days, the Coast Guard Directorate informed some vessels heading to Russian and Ukrainian ports that it was currently not issuing transit permits for such voyages. ... The authorities did not explain the reasons for this step to the vessels and did not publicly comment on the matter

- the publication writes.

It is indicated that the delays occurred after the Turkish government began speaking out increasingly loudly about attacks on commercial shipping in the Black Sea. At the same time, some of them targeted vessels owned by Turkey or flying the Turkish flag.

"Ukraine agreed to help ensure safe passage for some non-Russian oil tankers. ... Turkey appealed to Ukraine and Russia to declare a "moratorium" on attacks in the Black Sea," the article says.
