The US Space Force is planning to deploy a new ground-based system to jam enemy satellite signals. The first 11 out of 24 terminals will be installed by the end of the year to protect US troops during conflicts.

The US Space Force is going to deploy a new ground-based signal jamming system that should deprive Chinese and Russian satellites of the ability to transmit information about US troops during the conflict, Bloomberg reports , UNN.

Details

The first ground-based jammers for Remote Modular Terminals are scheduled to be installed this year after several successful tests. By December 31, the first 11 of the 24 jammers will be deployed in locations that will not be disclosed for security reasons.

The U.S. Space Force emphasizes that the terminals are “small, transportable, and inexpensive satellite jammers that can be deployed in harsh environments to protect” U.S. forces.

The new terminals complement a more extensive jamming system called the Counter Communications System and a medium-sized system called Meadowlands, which the US Space Force has already deployed and is using.
