Died Hollywood star Shelley Duvall, who played in "The Shining" by Stanley Kubrick at the age of 75 years. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter with reference to the director Dan Gilroy, reports UNN.
Duvall died in her sleep from complications from diabetes at her home in Blanco, Texas.
"My dear, sweet, wonderful life companion and friend has left us. Too much suffering lately, now she is free. Fly away, beautiful Shelly," Gilroy said.
Shelley Duvall is an American film and television actress, BAFTA (1978) and Emmy (1988, 1992) nominee, winner of the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival (1977).
She is best known for appearing in "Nashville" (1975), "Three Women" (1977), "Annie Hall" (1977), "The Shining" (1980), "Popeye" (1980), "Bandits in Time" (1981) and "Portrait of a Lady" (1996).
In November 2016, she made her first television appearance after a long hiatus on the Dr. Phil TV show, where she admitted to suffering from a mental disorder. The issue was heavily criticized. This included Vivian Kubrick, daughter of renowned director Stanley Kubrick, who worked with the actress on The Shining, saying the show was mocking and extremely cruel. After the show aired, a charitable organization came forward to sponsor Shelley's treatment.
