The death toll from two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on Wednesday has risen to at least 1,430 people. This was reported by the BBC, citing the head of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, writes UNN.

According to him, the earthquakes became "the most catastrophic event that Venezuela has experienced in the last 123 years."
Rodríguez also urged residents to stay home and refrain from traveling to the state of La Guaira, which suffered the most destruction. According to him, this region experienced "enormous destruction," and rescue operations there are ongoing.
