The European Commission will allocate 4 million euros to improve access to medical care for Ukrainian refugees. This is reported by the Ministry of Reintegration with reference to the website of the European Commission, UNN writes.

As Russia's illegal war in Ukraine continues, almost 5 million refugees from Ukraine have been registered for temporary protection in the EU and are entitled to medical care and assistance

- said European Commissioner for Health and Food Security Stella Kyriakides.

"This initiative sends a clear signal that we will continue to support Ukraine, its people, our member states and partners for as long as it takes," the statement said.

The project was launched under the EU4Health specialized program to improve access to healthcare services for Ukrainians who were forced to seek temporary protection in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia due to Russian aggression.

It will last for 2 years and is aimed at strengthening the capacity of national healthcare systems to cope with the arrival of new people who may potentially need medical care.

In addition, the initiative provides for specialized employment of Ukrainian doctors in the host countries.
