At night and in the morning of August 9, Russian troops fired 21 times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy region. Khotyn, Yunakiv, Miropil, Bilopil, Velykopysariv, Hlukhiv, Esman, Seredina-Buda communities came under attack. According to the RMA, 52 explosions occurred in Sumy region at night and in the morning due to Russian shelling. The Russians attacked 8 communities:
- Seredyno-Budska community: the enemy fired from cannon artillery (5 explosions).
- Yunakivska community: there were air strikes by the KAB (23 explosions) and artillery shelling (3 explosions).
- Bilopilska community: Russians dropped 8 mines on the territory of the community.
- Miropilska community: a UAV air strike (1 explosion).
- Velykopysarivska community: an explosive ordnance was dropped from a UAV (1 explosion).
- Esman community: The enemy dropped 3 mines on the territory of the community.
- Khotyn community: KAB air strikes were recorded (5 explosions).
- Hlukhiv community: a CAB air strike was carried out (3 explosions).
During the day on August 8, Russians fired 27 times at Sumy region. 79 explosions were recorded. In Yunakivska community, 2 civilians died as a result of a CAB air strike: a local resident and a 6-year-old child. In addition, a local resident sustained multiple injuries. Another person was injured in Sumy community. Also, four people were injured in Khotyn community as a result of a KAB strike.
