The incident occurred in early November 2024, when the girl went out into the courtyard of a university in Tehran after being beaten for "improperly" wearing a hijab. She was then detained and charged with "indecent behavior.
According to information, this act was an act of protest. A student of the Islamic Azad University was the victim of violence by university security officers and representatives of a pro-government youth organization. During her detention, the student's head was hit against a car door.
After the incident, she was hospitalized in a psychiatric clinic, where, according to an official representative of the Iranian judiciary, she was diagnosed with a mental illness. However, human rights activists strongly condemned the actions of the Iranian authorities and called for the woman's immediate release.
