The National Assembly approves a plan for a parliamentary investigation into President Yun Suk-yol's alleged coup attempt during his short-lived declaration of martial law.

It provides for a 45-day investigation into the introduction of martial law and was approved at the plenary session of the parliament by 191 votes to 71 with 23 abstentions.

The plan calls for determining the legality of the controversial Cabinet of Ministers meeting held on the eve of the declaration of martial law, as well as whether the military and police were mobilized to stop the parliamentary vote to lift it.

Among the state institutions to be investigated are the Office of the President, the National Security Directorate, the Presidential Security Service under the President, the Prime Minister's Office, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministries of Internal Affairs and Justice, the police, and the National Intelligence Service. The Ministry of Defense and the Main Directorate of Military Counterintelligence will also be investigated.
