The Verkhovna Rada is proposed to immediately adopt a number of draft laws on local self-government. These are the draft laws on democracy at the local government level, on local self-government bodies, and on public consultations, which are part of the Ukraine Facility program. This was stated during the open dialog "Local Self-Government Reform: 10 years on the march", said Olena Shulyak, head of the Servant of the People party, UNN reports.

According to Shulyak, today there is a lack of influence of ordinary residents on all the decisions that should be made at the community level.
That's why we sometimes see paving stones being repaved, and sometimes even speculate on accessibility and barrier-free issues. We see how the City Defender program is funded less than the tourism development program. We see how funds are spent on furnishing officials' offices. And this is precisely why there are a number of bills in the parliament that need to be adopted immediately so that communities and residents can use all the tools in various decision-making processes
Shulyak noted that these are, in particular, draft laws No. 7283 on democracy at the local government level; No. 6319 on local self-organization bodies; No. 6401 on transparency of local government, which is being signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as draft law No. 4254 on public consultations, which became part of the Ukraine Facility plan.

The draft law on local administrations is being prepared for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada. It establishes administrative oversight of local government decisions and proposes a new mechanism for selecting and appointing heads of local state administrations.
