Ishiba Shigeru was officially re-elected as Japan's prime minister on Monday after a second round of voting in a parliament that his ruling coalition no longer controls
It is noted that in the first round of voting, none of the candidates received the required 233 votes to win. In the second round, Ishiba received 221 votes, exceeding Yoshihiko Noda's 160 votes, and was declared the winner.

On October 1, ruling party leader Shigeru Ishiba was appointed Japan's 102nd Prime Minister after the resignation of the previous government of Fumio Kishida. Ishiba promised to continue their economic policies and call for parliamentary elections on October 27.
