In Odesa, a 13-year-old girl died while painting with her friend on the walls of an abandoned sanatorium between the fourteenth and fifteenth floors. According to the police of Odesa region, the girl fell into the gap between the stairs, UNN reports.

According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred on July 19 in the Peresypskyi district of Odesa.
The police established that two 13-year-old residents of Odesa had come to a sanatorium for a walk. The girls went up the stairs of an abandoned complex, where they were painting on the walls between the fourteenth and fifteenth floors. One of the girls decided to admire her drawing, took a step back, lost her footing, and fell into the gap between the stairs.
The tragedy was reported to law enforcement by the parents of the victim's friend. Police, rescuers, and medics immediately arrived at the scene. Unfortunately, they could not save the girl, she died at the scene.
The victim's family had not previously come to the attention of law enforcement; according to her parents, the daughter asked to go out with a friend and was in constant contact. Around 6 p.m., she told her mother that she was going home, but an hour later she stopped answering her phone.
Law enforcement officers sent the body of the deceased for examination. Preliminarily, the child's death was caused by injuries as a result of a fall from a height.
A criminal proceeding was initiated over the girl's death under Part 2, Clause 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with the note "accident". Police are establishing the full circumstances of the tragic event.
The investigation is ongoing.
