At a closed session, some Bundestag members from the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) for the first time made statements that they should participate in the election campaign not with the current Chancellor Olaf Scholz, but with the more popular Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, reports UNN with reference to Spiegel
According to Bild, the statements were made last week during a meeting of the influential Seeheimer Kreis group, which unites conservative SPD members of the Bundestag. MP Christian Schreider from Ludwigshafen was quoted as saying that he could no longer convince party members to participate in the campaign for Scholz - they were no longer ready for it.
