According to British intelligence, on March 18, putin mentioned the construction of a railway line from rostov through the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to Crimea. The new line should eventually reach Sevastopol and duplicate the kerch bridge.
putin also said that the first completed section of the railroad restores access to Berdyansk. British intelligence emphasizes that this railroad passes through an area that is vulnerable to Ukrainian long-range precision strike systems.
The new railway line south of Donetsk is almost 60 kilometers long and took eight months to build. It is likely one of the largest infrastructure projects russia has undertaken in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and restores rail service that was interrupted by fighting in the Donetsk area
The intelligence service added that one of russia's goals will be to maintain activity in Mariupol. The British Ministry of Defense has said that the russians are likely to want to rebuild Azovstal and other facilities that were destroyed in 2022.
