Russia is using the so-called "amoeba tactics" on the territory of Ukraine. Since the Russian troops do not have the capabilities for a deep breakthrough, they are experimenting with small forces in different places and hope that an opportunity will appear somewhere, said the head of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces, Major General Enno Mits, UNN reports with reference to ERR.
The Russians use a tactic that can be called amoebic. Consciously or not, but... they have no capabilities for a deep breakthrough, but they poke around everywhere, not caring about the lives of their soldiers, about the burning of their equipment, so to speak, and hope that an opportunity will suddenly appear somewhere. This is their model of action, which is characteristic not only of their activities on the battlefield, but also, one might say, in a global sense
Although Russia has the ability to bomb Kharkiv, Mitts does not believe it has the strength to take the city.
"It can pass through the city in one fell swoop, but to keep it under control, it will require much more troops. And this is exactly what the Russians lack today. We see that Russia is, so to speak, producing more troops, and it is a fact that it has more troops on the territory of Ukraine now than two years ago, but, again, their level of training and command is low, at the company level. In recent weeks, they have also tried to combine company attacks with armored vehicles, but these are rather isolated incidents," Mitts said.
According to Meats, the Russians are using "tactics of war of attrition" to attack critical infrastructure.
"It's not just about breaking the patriotism of Ukrainians alone, but also about fragmenting the unity of the West, because rebuilding Ukraine will require a lot of resources. And today, in a certain sense, these resources need to be directed to the means of warfare," added the major general.
