Romanian radars detected intermittent signals near Cahul and Galați County. Two F-16s and a helicopter were scrambled for monitoring.

Romania scrambled two F-16 fighter jets due to signals near the border with Moldova, the country's Defense Ministry reported on Monday, UNN writes.

"On Monday morning, August 24, at around 6:00 a.m., the Defense Ministry's radar surveillance system detected intermittent signals in the airspace of the Republic of Moldova, in the Cahul area (not far from the border with Romania — ed.). One of the signals later appeared in the area of Târgu Bujor, Galați County (not far from the border with Moldova — ed.). Two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force from the 86th Air Base in Borcea and an IAR-330 SOCAT helicopter were scrambled to monitor the situation," the statement says.

As indicated, the population in the area was alerted. An RO-Alert message was sent at 6:12.
