The Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation has opened a case against journalists from Italy because of their report from the Suzha district of the Kursk region of Russia, which is currently controlled by Ukrainian troops. The case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - “crossing the state border of the Russian Federation without valid documents for the right of entry” committed by a “group of persons”.

According to the Russian agency, the reporters illegally crossed the border and filmed in Suzha, Kursk region.

In addition, it is reported that a legal check is being conducted on foreign correspondent Nick Peyton Walsh, “based on the results of which a procedural decision will be made,” the FSB said.

The maximum penalty under this article is five years in prison.

Context

Recently, the Italian TV channel Rai 1 published its own report from Suzha, Kursk region, which is currently controlled by Ukrainian troops. In connection with this, Moscow summoned the Italian ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier, Ukrainian journalists also recorded a story from the territory of the Kursk region controlled by Ukraine .
