President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen called on the US House of Representatives to provide rapid support to Ukraine. She said this in an interview with RND, according to UNN.
In Europe, we have always been able to agree on new measures to support Ukraine, even if it was difficult at times. If we summarize everything, we have almost a three-digit billion dollar amount of civilian and military assistance. Now I am very clearly calling on the U.S. House of Representatives to also come together and finally allow the aid package for Ukraine, which has been stalled for months, to be passed. Ukraine deserves the support of all free countries in the world
When asked if she believed the House of Representatives would give the green light sooner or later, von der Leyen said: "Yes, I expect it."
"Most MPs there see things the same way we do and know: the help proposed by President Joe Biden is now extremely urgent. Continuing to block them would not only harm Ukraine, but also the Atlantic alliance as a whole. The autocracies of the world are watching closely to see whether the democratic states oppose this issue or not. We have to send the right signal, also to prevent wars of aggression elsewhere," said von der Leyen.
