On May 12, a shooting incident occurred at the Svitlovodsk City Council, resulting in two men being wounded. Law enforcement officers detained an official and launched a pre-trial investigation into an act of hooliganism involving the use of traumatic weapons. This was reported by the Kirovohrad Oblast Police, according to UNN.
On May 12, at approximately 11:48 AM, the police received a report of a shooting inside the Svitlovodsk City Council building
Preliminary findings established that three men entered the office of the First Deputy Mayor. A conflict arose between the official and the visitors, during which the man drew a traumatic pistol and fired several shots toward his opponents. As a result of the incident, two people were wounded. The victims were handed over to medical personnel to receive necessary assistance.
Law enforcement officers detained the official in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. During the initial investigative actions, police seized the traumatic weapon.
Following this incident, investigators initiated criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
Investigative actions are currently ongoing, and law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the event.
