The occupation authorities of Crimea reported a 30% decrease in the number of tourists in 2024 compared to the years before the full-scale invasion of Russia. They promise support to hoteliers in areas where there are “risks” of Ukrainian troops landing.

In 2024, Crimea was visited by 30% fewer tourists than before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This was stated by the Russian Head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, UNN reports with reference to Krym.Realii.

He also promised to take "measures to support hoteliers in those areas where the season was not held for objective reasons.

According to him, these areas include those where Russian fortifications are located and there are risks of Ukrainian troops landing.

Among the "support measures" Aksyonov listed exemptions from paying land rent and some benefits, but he did not specify which ones.

Earlier, the Russian newspaper Kommersant wrote that the number of registered hotel companies in Crimea has decreased by almost 6.5% over the past two years. Compared to other Russian regions, this is the highest figure for the number of closed companies in the hotel industry.

Ukrainian intelligence reports that in June, Russians canceled at least 30% of their trips to the annexed Crimea. According to the GUR, Russians are primarily concerned about the difficult security situation caused by the annexation.
