In the Studenok river of the Kharkiv region, a massive pestilence of fish was recorded. An investigation has been launched into violations of water protection rules, and water and fish samples have been taken for research.

A massive pestilence of fish was recorded in rychtsy Studenok in the Kharkiv region, an investigation has been launched, the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office reported on Monday.

"Today, the media began to spread information about the mass pestilence of fish in the Studenok River in the village of Khroly, Kharkiv region," the prosecutor's office said.

As indicated, information was entered in the unified state register of legal entities on the fact of violation of water protection rules, which led to contamination of surface waters and created a danger to the environment (Part 1 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

It is reported that during the inspection of the scene, together with police investigators and representatives of regulatory authorities, namely specialists of the environmental Inspectorate, water samples were taken for appropriate research.

"The fish seized during the inspection was sent to the laboratory for instrumental and laboratory studies of the causes of death. After that, appropriate forensic examinations will be appointed," the report says.
