The capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, has entered the top 10 least livable cities in the world. This is according to The Economist's ranking, reports UNN.
The most comfortable city to live in the world this year? Copenhagen, which can celebrate its second consecutive year at the top. Vienna and Melbourne are tied for second place. Vancouver (9th place) is the only city in North America to make the top ten; Tokyo (10th place) is the only megacity to make the cut
Thus, the top 10 includes:
- Copenhagen;
- Vienna;
- Melbourne;
- Sydney;
- Zurich;
- Geneva;
- Osaka;
- Adelaide;
- Vancouver;
- Tokyo.
Kyiv, meanwhile, dropped in the ranking from 165th to 166th place. The top three least livable cities are Damascus, Tripoli, and Dhaka.
Damascus, the war-torn capital of Syria, remains at the bottom of the ranking, where it has been since 2013. Tehran, another war-ravaged capital, dropped two positions and entered the bottom ten. All the biggest drops this year occurred in the Middle East. After a series of Iranian drone strikes, Muscat dropped 14 positions to 123rd place - the biggest drop of all. China led the ranking of improvements. After years of state investment, every Chinese city in the index improved its healthcare score. Improvements include expanding health insurance and progress toward the government's goal of making medical facilities accessible within a 15-minute walk of every resident
The ranking is assessed across five categories: healthcare, culture and environment, education, infrastructure, and stability.
Recall
Despite the war, the Ukrainian real estate market continues to recover. In some cities, apartment prices have significantly increased over the past year due to high demand and a shortage of supply, while in others, prices remain at a minimum level due to proximity to the front line.
