Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba focused on four priorities at the EU Foreign Affairs Council: EU accession negotiations, the long-term support program, funding for military assistance, and the 12th package of EU sanctions against Russia. Kuleba reported on the progress of legislative reforms necessary for EU membership.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has named four priorities for the Ukrainian delegation at the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, the Foreign Ministry said, UNN reports.

Details

According to Kuleba, the Ukrainian delegation will pay key attention to negotiations and speeches in Brussels to four priority decisions on Ukraine expected this week: the European Council's decision to open negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU, approval of a long-term support program for Ukraine for 2024-2027, funding for military assistance to our country and adoption of the 12th package of EU sanctions against Russia.

Today I came to Brussels with a very concrete result. Out of the four laws that Ukraine had to adopt in accordance with the European Commission's report by March 2024, three were passed by the Parliament and signed by the President. The fourth law has already been registered in the Parliament and will be adopted. We expect that the EU will decide to open negotiations on Ukraine's membership at the European Council summit in a few days,

Kuleba said.

According to the minister, the second priority will be to fill the Ukraine Facility, which will provide reliable and long-term EU support for Ukraine for 2024-2027.

"Another important topic will be to ensure the filling of the European Peace Fund, so that the European Union can continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons and ammunition, to strengthen the defense capabilities of our country in its fight against Russian aggression," the Ukrainian Foreign Minister emphasized.

The fourth priority will be the adoption of the 12th EU sanctions package to limit Russia's ability to continue its aggression.

To recap,

Borrell supported negotiations on Ukraine's membership and continued military support before the EU summit.
