According to intelligence officials, not only Russia, but also Iran and China are determined to flood the Internet with false and inflammatory statements about American democracy.

Following the attack on Trump, Russian disinformation outlets quickly ramped up claims that Democratic rhetoric led to the shooting, or even baseless conspiracy theories suggesting that Biden or the Ukrainian government organized the attempt.
These pro-Russian voices tried to link the assassination attempt to Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine
