Italy's National Cybersecurity Agency has recorded an increase in hacker interventions related to Russia's war in Ukraine and the Middle East, but most of the actions were taken by pro-Russian hackers, UNN reports citing Rai and ANSA.

Italy's National Cybersecurity Agency has revealed an increase in the number of cyberattacks in the country in 2023, 29% more than in 2022. The number of victims tripled from 1,150 to 3,302. The number of hacker attacks related to wars is growing in the country, including Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the war in the Middle East.
However, most of the attacks, 248 out of 319, were carried out by pro-Russian groups. At the same time, the pro-Palestinian group conducted a single campaign, carrying out 15 attacks. The relevant data are contained in the annual report of the Acadian Parliament, presented today by the Republic's Security Commissioner Alfredo Mantovano and the Agency's Director Bruno Frattazi.
In terms of the total number of cases, the largest number of attacks was Ddos - 319 (a distributed denial of service, blocking a website by flooding it with access requests);
In 275 cases, malware was distributed via e-mail;
240 - phishing (sending fake emails to steal confidential information);
165 - ransomware (ransomware attack).
The most affected sectors were telecommunications (216), followed by central government (201) and local government (140).
