The Pentagon also issued a release after the ministers' conversation.
"Austin and Minister Umerov reaffirmed the urgent need for a National Security Annex to support Ukraine's fight against Russian aggression and discussed plans for the next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. Both leaders pledged to stay in close contact," the statement said.
