According to the information, all state organizations should not purchase advertising space in this publication. This decision, proposed by Communications Minister Shlomo Karh, was a reaction to numerous editorials that, in the government's view, undermine Israel's legitimacy and right to defense.
According to Haaretz, the government criticizes articles that discuss the actions of the Israeli armed forces, in particular in northern Gaza. The newspaper has repeatedly published materials accusing the armed forces of engaging in ethnic cleansing, which was the main reason for the Israeli government's decision.
