In Ukraine, sharing personal photos between husband and wife can result in up to 5 years in prison. Due to the shortcomings of the legislation on the distribution of pornography, 45 people have been sentenced over the past 9 months. This was stated by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on the air of Vechir.LIVE, reports UNN.
“We have a rudimentary article that was inherited from the Soviet Union. It doesn't exist in any other country in the world that you can go to prison for 5 years for possession, distribution of materials that can be considered pornographic. If a wife sends her husband a nude photo of herself, which they can do as adults, they can legally be sent to prison now,” Zheleznyak said.
He noted that this is “not only an idiotic rule, but it is now being applied by law enforcement.
“During the year, law enforcement officers sent more than 1,200 indictments to court under this article alone. 45 people have been sentenced in the first nine months of this year,” Zheleznyak added.
Recall
A group of MPs have registered in the Verkhovna Rada a revised draft law on decriminalization of porn, which would eliminate criminal liability for filming and distributing intimate videos.
The Parliamentary Committee on Law Enforcement supported draft law No. 12191 on “decriminalization of porn” with 11 votes in favor. The document is intended to amend Article 301 of the Criminal Code regarding the storage and distribution of intimate content.
