The Verkhovna Rada Committee on finance, tax and customs policy at a meeting today, November 27, supported Bill No. 11090, which proposes a gradual increase in excise tax rates on tobacco products. This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, writes UNN.
The committee generally supported the government bill # 11090 on increasing excise taxes on cigarettes. For-18. Abstained-1
As the MP pointed out, the document sets a gradual increase in excise tax rates on tobacco products, taking into account the minimum level defined by Directive 2011/64/EC.
The excise tax on cigarettes is tied to the euro, not the hryvnia, Zheleznyak said.
"In fact, starting from the New Year, cigarettes will cost 40 UAH more," the MP said.
According to him, next year the increase in the excise tax on tobacco elections will bring the state more than UAH 20 billion.
Recall
The Verkhovna Rada in June supported in the first reading the bill on raising the excise tax on tobacco products. The excise tax on cigarettes is pegged to the euro, not the hryvnia, and it is assumed that in 2025 the excise tax will increase by +23%, and then in 2026-2028 it will be +5%.
