On July 22, 2026, the enemy attacked Ukrainian Armed Forces positions near Myrne, in Volnovakha district. During the combat mission, the occupiers captured a Ukrainian defender and shot him.
Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pretrial investigation has been launched in criminal proceedings over the commission of a war crime that resulted in a person's death (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Urgent investigative (search) actions are currently being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident and the individuals among Russian servicemen involved in committing the said crime.
The prosecutor's office emphasized that the killing of prisoners is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a serious international crime.
