An important conference dedicated to the implementation of the Judicial Rehabilitation Procedure (JRP) for Ukrainian veterans took place in Kyiv. The event was organized by the Legal Hundred NGO with the support of the USAID Justice for All Program and brought together a wide range of participants, including government representatives, international experts, American judges and public figures, UNN reports.

The conference became an important platform for discussing the prospects of implementing the PSA in Ukraine, using the US experience as a key reference point. Lesia Klyarovska, Head of the Legal Hundred NGO, and Ruslana Velychko-Trifoniuk, Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, were the key speakers at the event. They emphasized that the introduction of such procedures will help Ukraine to increase the effectiveness of veterans' rehabilitation using proven tools adapted to local conditions.

The American experience in this area became the center of the discussion. Judge Robert Lockyer from Colorado, a well-known expert in the field of rehabilitation programs for veterans, shared successful examples of such programs in the United States. He spoke about the importance of a comprehensive approach that includes not only judicial supervision but also psychological support and individual rehabilitation plans. Vladyslav Shynkarenko, a PSA expert, supplemented this information with statistics and performance criteria that confirm the success of such programs in the United States.

The PSA procedure that is being considered for implementation in Ukraine includes several key stages: thorough screening of veterans, development of individualized rehabilitation plans, judicial supervision and ongoing monitoring of the process. The main participants in this procedure are judges, prosecutors, lawyers, psychologists, probation officers and veteran mentors. This ensures comprehensive support for veterans through the judicial system and assistance in social adaptation.

The PSA implementation roadmap includes several stages: preparation (formation of working groups, drafting of laws), implementation of a pilot project (staff training, launch of the program in a limited scope) and scaling up the program at the national level. During the conference, specific steps were presented for the implementation of each stage, which will allow for the effective implementation of the PSA and ensure its successful adaptation in Ukraine.

The event emphasized the need to implement such innovative approaches to improve the rehabilitation system for veterans, which is critical to improving the quality of life of this category of citizens. The conference was an important step towards creating a more effective system of support for veterans in Ukraine and confirmed the commitment of the organizers and partners to achieve this goal.
