Hungarian Defense Minister Péter Szalai-Bobrovnitsky has ordered the deployment of air defense assets in the northeastern part of the country, closest to Ukraine. In a video posted on Facebook, the defense minister justified this step by saying that "the Russian-Ukrainian war has entered the most dangerous phase in history." This was reported by UNN with reference to Telex.
Details
Shalay-Bobrovnitsky noted that Ukrainians received permission from Western states to use Western long-range weapons to strike at Russian territory, and the Kremlin, according to him, changed its nuclear doctrine because of this.
Addendum
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced the change in the doctrine only after the US administration authorized Ukraine to launch long-range missiles at Russian territory. The doctrine allows Russia to respond with a nuclear strike on its territory if it is attacked by Western weapons.
However, as Telex writes, it can be assumed that such a nuclear strike will not be launched against the northeastern part of Hungary. It may be more threatened by Russian missile strikes, such as the recent Russian attack on the Transcarpathian territories near the Hungarian border - even before news broke of the decision to allow the use of the American ATACMS ballistic missile, the British Storm Shadow and its French variant, the SCALP cruise missile, against Russian targets. Reacting to the missile attack in Zakarpattia, Szijjarto proposed to intensify peace efforts.
