Home internet can work during power outages thanks to xPON technology and powerbank. The Ministry of digital development has launched a project with tips on mobile communication during power outages. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for innovation, development of Education, Science and Technology-Minister of digital transformation of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov in Telegram, writes UNN.

""Wi-Fi will work during power outages if you switch to xPON. home internet can work from different networks, but only energy-saving ones will continue to work during power outages. If your provider has switched to xPON, connect the router and Onu device to powerbank - and you will be with normal internet," said Fedorov.
According to him, the easiest way to find out if this technology is available in your home is to map the internet during a power outage. "We launched it from the moon City exactly one year ago. If you don't have an xPON in your home, find someone who has already connected it in the nearest home. This information, as well as the provider's phone numbers, connection cost, and so on, is on the map," the official said.
"There is no universal solution like xPON for the mobile internet. We are working with operators to ensure that they continue to provide communication during power outages. However, this requires the involvement of users," Fedorov said.
The telecom team of the Ministry of digital development, according to him, has launched a project where three issues have already been published about the first actions during de-energization:
1) Why does mobile communication not work during power outages?
2) What affects the quality of communication: the base station and its varieties?
3) What is national roaming and how do I set it up?
"Save and send advice to your family right now, so that they are in touch in any situation," said Fedorov.
