As part of deregulation, the government has stopped maintaining the Register of Software Producers and Distributors and canceled other outdated regulations, UNN reports, citing the Ministry of Economy.
Details
According to the government's decision:
- the register of software producers and distributors, which was previously maintained by the Ministry of Economy, has been canceled. Decisions on inclusion in the register and the relevant certificates issued to businesses represented in the register are also no longer valid;
- the provision according to which the Ministry of Economy, with the participation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was designated as the main executor of work on legalization of software in government agencies and combating its illegal use was canceled. The regulation was adopted in the early 2000s and is no longer relevant.
As noted, the information contained in the registry will be archived and stored.
Today, the authorized bodies - the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the State Service for Special Communications and others - are in charge of informatization, cybersecurity and information protection tools, the Ministry of Economy said.
The government has abolished outdated and inefficient rules and procedures in the field of state regulation of economic activity, which only burdened business. Since their adoption, the legal framework governing the IT sector has been significantly improved. The Ministry of Economy is not a specialized body in this area, so it is logical that non-core functions should be removed from the ministry
