According to the German Ministry, the situation on the ground is being monitored "very closely" and close communication with partners is maintained.
"We are in constant contact with our colleagues on the ground to take appropriate action if the situation changes," the statement said.
The embassy is still accessible to local German citizens.

The United States and a number of other countries closed their embassies on Wednesday. The US diplomatic mission warned of a possible air attack.
